The next morning the other captives were reloaded into the wagon alongside Raphen, and they started off again. With more people in the wagon bed it was warmer, the tightly packed bodies generating enough heat to ward off the chill.         They were picked up one by one from wherever they'd stopped sliding and told not to get any ideas as the ropes around their hands and ankles were untied.
